Michael Malyszko
Michael was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, blah, blah, blah, blah,
blah, blah, earned the Photography Merit Badge, Boy Scouts of America,
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, got his B.A. from the University of
Pennsylvania, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, spent a year traveling
cross country by motorcycle, observing light and photographing daily,
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, started Malyszko Photography in Boston
working for diverse clients in the publishing, design and advertising
fields.
Michael's photographs have been published in more than 50 countries and
have been recognized in a variety of juried photographic publications,
including the Communication Arts Photo Annual, PhotoGraphis, ASMP's 10,000
Eyes, and the 2002 American Photography Annual. His work is in many private
collections and in the permanent collection of the International Center
for Photography in New York.
In 1996-1997 he spent a year living and working in Paris, resulting in:
Betty and Rita Go to Paris , a photo book of his two Labrador retrievers
on the loose in Paris, published by Chronicle Books, San Francisco. Its
success prompted him to travel to Rome to shoot the sequel, "Betty
and Rita La Dolce Vita ," which was published in September, 2001.
Both books are now translated and sold around the world. He speaks French
well, Italian a little, and has traveled and photographed in six continents.
When not shooting or traveling, his interests include golfing, surfing,
reading, eating, drinking (actually most of the gerunds). Old enough to
remember the Beatles, young enough to like Sasha and Digweed, it's evident
that Michael takes his work much more seriously than he takes himself.
